In "See the Future event" that is running in New York, Sony has announced its new version of Gaming Console called the PS4 or Sony PlayStation 4 which is said to be quite different from the general concept of consoles as boxes and will be more of "best place to play". Sony said that the console will be launching in the Holiday Season of 2013 and it hasn't yet provided a glimpse of the device or revealed its pricing details.
Lead system architect Mark Cerny said in the event, "the PS4 is based on a supercharged PC architecture, with an X86 processor, enhanced PC-style GPU, and 8GB of GDDR5 unified high-speed memory." The controller is called as DualShock 4 and features the Sony PS Vita style touchpad with a light bar on the back to identify each player. Each PS4 will come equipped with a 3D camera to track the various controllers by the use of the bars. Amazing thing yet, "The PS4 contains 8 CPU cores, providing almost 2 teraflops of computational performance which allows for 30,000 polygons to be rendered in real time". Overall, our goal has been to architect the system to support a breadth of experiences. Our goal is also to make sharing of video as popular in the PlayStation 4 as Screenshots are today!" said Cerny.
Now one more cool feature, for those who feel it quite frustrating for the longer boot times, PS4 can pause and resume gameplays just by pressing the power button so no more long waits! The console additionally packs in a secondary chip that allows uploads and downloads even while the power is off and downloaded its can be played even while they are downloading!  For uploads, another rumor comes true as always-on video compression comes with PS4 which will allow gamers to upload their video footage on the go, even while they are playing.
The other added new age features include social advances that allows chat, players to watch gameplay of others and even allows users to "reach out" to their friends systems to play! Users can use smartphones to browse videos and companion apps and Facebook is the 3rd party service PS4 is designed to work with.
Sony has lately acquired Gaikai, so it has significant contributions to PS4 as well. It will allow notifications when friends buy a new title and you can try them before you buy!
Users will be able to broadcast themselves in real time by the new share button on the Dualshock 4 controller. Developers will also have a director status and they will have the power to send in power ups and change maps during the gameplay which will seem like more real now on.
Sony is also focusing more on the PS Vita, so the PS Vita can also be used as a second screen and players can play the PS4 titles on the Vita. IGN is working up to match up titles for the PS4. IGN is the leading game review site, most trusted in the industry of gaming!
The downside of the PlayStation 4 would be that it isn't backward compatible with the PS3 titles.
In a nutshell, the next PS - PS4 would be more powerful and spectacular with a more lifelike gaming experience. So gear up for it!
