Canonical an open source software community today unveiled Ubuntu for Android at MWC. This feature allows users to switch on their phones and use it as a pure android device, however when they are connected to their PC’s they see the Ubuntu interface, the one that we are so familiar with on our desktops/laptops.
It includes various applications from office productivity to photography, music and other media. All data and services are seamlessly synced to the laptops and one can access all android apps like sms/mms messaging, contacts, telephony etc on the PC in ubuntu interface. This app is meant for dual or quad core phones only.
Ubuntu for android gives many smartphone workers a true mobile desktop. We are all familiar with the government’s initiative to boost the use of Ubuntu, for its security, support for advanced browsers, pure computing ability and providing a range of useful applications.
Ubuntu for Android provides us-the users, network providers and handset makers an opportunity for tremendous growth in emerging markets.
