There is a bad news for Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab owners.  Samsung has denied upgrading the two popular gadgets to run Android 4.0, the Icecream Sandwich. Many Galaxy Tab and Samsung Galaxy S users are annoyed due to this. The main reason behind this decision is the additional hard work required to upgrade the other software in the device to support the Icecream Sandwich.

There are various useful software in these two devices such as TouchWiz, Widgets, Video Calling and Mobile TV. If the devices are upgraded to Android 4.0 the RAM will not be sufficient to run them properly.

The important point is that 1 GB Hummingbird processor in Galaxy S and the memory would have been able to support Android 4.0. Moreover Galaxy Nexus runs on Android 4.0 and the hardware specs in all these devices are nearly same. On the other hand Samsung cleared that Nexus runs the basic Android OS but Galaxy S and Tab are the devices that run many useful software that require high memory usage.

When HTC upgraded the Desire to Android Gingerbread it had to disable some of the features of the device. But it seems Samsung has no intention to disable any of the features of the gadgets. So, there will be no upgradation of Samsung Galaxy S and the 7 inch Galaxy Tab to Android 4.0.  However many consumers are unhappy with the decision as Android 4.0 has many new and interesting features to offer. Do let us know your opinion regarding this.
