Launched in 1999, Suzuki has come out with two generation of this bike. It has become world’s fastest production motorcycle immediately after its launch with a speed of 188 to 194 miles per hour. The bike is 2190mm long, 1165mm tall and 735mm wide makingit hotter than any other bike. It has 1480mm wheelbase and 120mm ground clearance. The bike is suitable for both normal as well as sporty use. The curb mass is 260kg and the fuel tank capacity is 21.0 litres.
The bike’s engine capacity is 1340 cm3 (cc). It is 4 strokes, 4 cylinder liquid cooled, DOHC bike which makes it reliable. The bore and stroke sizes 81mm and 65mm respectively. It has a compression ratio of 12.5:1 and electronic ignition. The front suspension is inverted telescopic while the rear suspension is linky type while both of them are coil spring and oil damped. The front brake is disc as well as twin where as the rear brake is disc only. The tyres used are tubeless which vary in specification. The front tyre is 120/70ZR 17M/C (58W) whereas the back tyre’s specification is 190/50ZR17M/C (73W).
Generally sports bike sell well on the very first year of the launch. The case was reversed with Suzuki Hayabusa. This bike sales sees an increase with every passing year. United States saw sales of 10,000 units each in the year 2005 and 2006.
