Apple released a new iPhone on Wednesday, the iPhone 4S which is rather surprisingly similar to iPhone 4. It is like iPhone 3GS all over again.

The new iPhone doesn’t have an edge-to-edge screen, as many artists and designers had expected. But it does have a new 8-Megapixel camera which takes stunning pictures. It also has a new heart, a dual-core A5 processor which helps taking crisp and great photos easier and snappier. Apple claims the new processor will boost the performance by 100% and also provide 7x more graphics performance.

Apart from the lens and the processor the hardware is as it was except that the battery performance has been optimised to juice out an extra hour of talk-time. The screen and dimensions are largely unchanged too. Over at the software front we have a new voice-controlled assistant called Siri which does pretty much what you can do on your iphone. It can search over the internet, call people, make notes and even read you the messages. This seems useful and is awesome too, the way you can direct it like a real assistant. iOS 5 which will be released soon and iCloud is the latest one to join the clouds in data-sky.

Sure, it is a disappointment for some people but it is also an exciting new iPhone for many, thanks to the new camera and Siri. So go for one now unless you have bought an iPhone 4 already, or hate these beautiful gadgets altogether. Otherwise wait for iPhone 5, with a new hope to see something more beautiful coming out of dreamland.

On a side note- As the man behind it all is no more, there might not be a dreamland any more too. But we all hope to see the best coming from Cupertino in the many years to come as always, Steve Jobs or no Steve Jobs.
